Custom Celebration 9 Kicks Off at

Joecustoms annual Custom Celebration is kicking off today. The next two weeks will be filled with wall-to-wall custom challenges, contests, how-tos. You can check everything out here:

If you are reading this, you like custom action figures. You may not customize, you may not even care for GI Joe, but you at least have a deep appreciation for what goes into turning a collection of plastic parts into a completely different thing.

The above remarks were the start of a much longer announcement I drafted a few months ago. The gist of it could be much more succinctly summed up with, it is better to have customized and lost, then to never have customized at all. I was trying to be poignant. In light of recent events it all seems trivial now. Life is short. So, with the little time we have, do what makes you happiest. Customizing action figures is frustrating, time consuming, messy, expensive, and sometimes dangerous. But, for me, it has also been very rewarding. Somehow through this trivial time waster of hobby I've found kindred spirits and some level of sanity. I wouldn't trade a minute of it, but I also won't waste any more of your time.

If you've been sitting on the sidelines lurking or testing the waters, get ready for cannonballs off the high dive. Custom Celebration 9 is underway. If you've never been around for our Celebrations, we flood you with content for two straight weeks leading up to the JoeCustoms Awards results. Interviews, tutorials, reviews, reveals, challenges, contests, podcasts, and so much more that we're still hammering out all the details. Every day we'll give you the schedule for the day and update it with links as stuff gets moved into place. Or if life gets in the way, you can always go back and check the Master Schedule for anything you missed. The one caveat, this is a participation driven event so we're going to be asking you to share with us as much as we're sharing with you.
